Hamilton Beach 33967 Set 'n Forget 6-Quart Programmable Slow Cooker

I bought the slow cooker just because of the digital timing programing--well--

First of all the lid is a honest to goodness real -real Hassle to put on. The stainless safety latches are right where they should not be,hard to get around to fit the lid on and hard to clamp ( at first -you do get used to these.) Once you buy it you'll see real fast the safety stainless lid clamp ons are a joy killer! A real problem!

Next--forget the digital stuff !!Yes its digital 0n a moron level!!In other words --way way too simple.You can set the timing for 30 minute intervals only and ---get this on only one level of cooking.Its either Hot or Low. Not Both!In other words 2 hours on hot then 1 hour on low --NO!!! Only progaming is available for Hot at a given time or Low at a given time. Its insultating to the human intelligence!!

Of course --Hamilton Beach will come out wtih a newer model that does both,, once--competition appears -not until!

And READY?? For the Grand Finale?? REally Ready???The cooker has to be filled within an inch or 2 of the top !!!
That means----meals for at least 4 people,,, more likley 6!!!its Great for families 4 or more most likely 6-8 people!
My Lady and I are a twosome -2 people unless we want to get to 400bls each real quick --this cooker is OVERKILL for us!!!Fat City!!Nuclear Overkill !!

Does it cook good ??Yes !!! Really does !!The white outside shows every spec of food but----the Glazzed inside Bowl is Great!!! Super Well Done dishwasher loving high quality -make that Super high quality inside container that cleans easily, cooks uniformally -even throughout very well. You are buying in reality a good inside bowl that cooks well ,evenly.

Its it really digital well,, yes ,well no!!The electroncics are dirt cheap , intelligence insulting, you are better off with a plain vanilla timer model that cooks on hot or low as thats the end result with this model.I cannot in good conscience recommend this over hyped model.If you are a small couple or family this is Over kill at its best,you are going to throw a lot of food away.If you are a laaaaarge family --go for it!! Its a bargain!!

This is one of the best product you can buy for the slow cooker. I couldn't believe how easiest to use and very well built. I love it.

I like the fact that this slow cooker is programmable and portable, it's very convenient. However, when I leave it for 8 hours on LOW, I find the food boiling inside. I would understand if there was boiling activity on HIGH, but on LOW it seems totally uncalled for. This is one of the two slow cookers I own, and the other one (Rival) gets to boiling only on HIGH setting. Otherwise it is a great slow cooker.

I use my slow cooker almost every weekend (more in the winter) and have gone through 4 of them. The Hamilton Beach is different in that the lid clamps down, preventing steam from escaping and or food from bubbling up and over. The probe provides a perfectly cooked roast. I only wish it came in 7 quarts. The best slow cooker I've found!
