It works
This works ok. It takes longer than my other pot to warm up. Its hard to see how much water to put in because the handle is covering the measuring window.
It does heat up water though.

It works!
I was initially afraid to purchase an electric water kettle, because so many reviews of various other kettles stated that they stopped working or had breaking parts in only a short time. I've had this kettle nearly a month now, and it works fine. I like that it's incredibly easy to use, and it doesn't stand out too much. The only drawback is that it only holds 1.5 liters, which means if I want to make a pitcher of iced tea, I have to make two sets of boiling water. Another glitch: You have to make sure the lid is snapped all the way shut, or the water will just keep on boiling. The lid has to be fully closed for the automatic switch-off to work. If you leave it in this state and aren't around to notice, you could burn out your kettle. 2010-07-13

Great choice!
I bought this kettle because I have an electric stove that boils water very very slowly, and in the summer it gives off a lot of heat. What can I say except that this kettle is perfect? It fills easily, boils water quickly and is very energy efficient--as soon as the water boils, it automatically turns off. No more listening to the kettle screeching while you're in another romm involved in doing something else. Good price too. What more can you ask? 2010-07-12

Almost "stainless steel"
If a manufacturer describes a product as "stainless steel", ideally I would expect it to have no non-steel elements, period. Short of that, I would want it to have no non-metal parts in contact with drinking water, especially at high (boling) temperatures. Because this does not address all the reasons for it to be stainless. What was the goal of creating a "stainless steel" kettle? Maybe initially it was not to not have rust in the water. But nowadays, with the proliferation of resins and other elements that may leech unhealthy chemicals, it is important to prevent other materials to be in contact with drinking water: plastic, led, zink, etc. Unfortunately, many manufacturers use cheaper-made plastic parts while not describing this fact and still calling the product "stainless"...
I bought this kettle at a Target store for $29.99. Unfortunately, it does have plastic parts inside: entirely plastic lid, filter asembly and filter itself, as well as the parts of the water level gauge. Some plastic is safer, like polyethilene or polypropelene. This kettle has the cover and the filter assembly made from black heavy and thick glossy resin. How safe is it drnking water for years several times a day after it was in contact with this material at boiling temperatures?
When I removed the plastic filter assembly (it easily snaps out or in), the kettle would continue boiling water without turning itself off, i.e. the auto-off switch stopped working. This means that it uses a pressure sensor, and removing the filter and the parts that hold it allows the steam easily escaping through the wide spout preventing the steam pressure from building up to the proper level that is detectable by the off-switch sensor, so the kettle kept boiling.
To be fair, I must mention that other brands have similar designs and use resins. Aside from the use of the plastic materials, this was the best kettle out of all that I found at Target and seems to be quite decent.

Great purchase
I purchased this kettle for my husband for Father's Day as we drink alot of green tea cold. The kettle boils the 1.5 litres of water in exactly 5 minutes, which is very impressive. It is a bit hard to see the water level at first, but when you get used to it, you can find it quite well. The kettle turns off each time we use it. We have not had any problems with the functions on it, and I would highly rate this kettle for the price. I feel that we have gotten our money's worth out of it already.
The cord is short, but this is for safety reasons. The pot does get hot on the outside, but don't all pots do this? It is a nifty little hot water heating pot, and I can see us using this for a long time. I am very pleased with it, and again, have not had any problems with it that others have had. I feel that it works very well, no odd smells or tastes, and very dependable. I feel it is safe to use especially with the shorter cord, to prevent misuse or it's being pulled off the counter. It brings the water to a full hard boil each and every time. Hope that others will find this kettle to be a great purchase as well!
