Zojirushi SL-JAE14 Mr. Bento Stainless Steel Lunch Jar

Love it! Neat and compact and looks nice, really does keep things hot at the bottom. Also love the black carrying case although the plastic ends of the drawstring both broke off the first day. Other than that this bento box is a pleasure to use & I consider it a really good investment.

I should have read the description more carefully -- only the carry case/jar is steel. The bowls/lids are plastic. Yes, it's convenient and everything it claims to be, but if you're looking to reduce your plastic expose, this product is not for you.

Bought this for my guy friend who refused to take lunch to work because he didn't want to seem like a dork carrying a paper bag and was instead paying tons of $$$ every week buying take out. I ended up buying this for him since it is a very masculine and "non-girly" lunch tote. He absolutely LOVES it. He tells me at least 1x a week how convenient it is, he loves that everything fits in one bag and it's just really the perfect lunch tote. I only wish I would have invented it! It's a big expensive but absolutely worth it as we can tell the quality os top notch. Probably the best Amazon.com purchase I have ever made. Love it!

This insulated lunch box set works so well that I ordered two more. Using only one means washing dishes every day - three buys me some extra slack time. This lunch jar is the best nicest lunch box I have owned.

If you enjoy cooking, you will probably have a lot of fun thinking up new ways to fill this thing's little bowls with tasty treats. If you find cooking to be a hateful, arduous chore and just want to take a can of soup to work every once in a while, you should probably pick up a $12 Thermos at Target instead.

When used as directed, the lower soup bowl will maintain a solid 120-130 degree internal temperature for at least half a day. It does have a steam valve, so it's not perfectly water-tight, but it doesn't leak all over the place as some have suggested, either. I'm not particularly careful with mine, and I've never seen more than a drop of misplaced liquid floating around the bottom of the canister. You will see plenty of condensation, though.

The plastic definitely will pick up odors, but so does Tupperware, so I don't see how it's a dealbreaker. A good, thorough washing and airing out is all that's really required. Give it a break every now and then by taking a sandwich and you probably won't notice much difference, but if you have curry one day and strawberry parfait the next, then you might be in trouble.

The price is pretty high for what it is, but the little tote bag is really pretty well made and not the cheapo afterthought you'd expect it to be. All in all I find it very convenient.
