Panasonic NN-SN667W 1-1/5-Cubic-Foot 1300-Watt Microwave Oven, White

This microwave is quiet, works extremely well, and is attractive. It heats food much faster than any microwave I have ever owned and does it very uniformly. It is loaded with features that are very handy. I would recommend this microwave to anyone considering one this size.

Simple, easy-to-operate, heats things up quickly and a good value. I'm sure it has features that I don't use and that's just fine. It was very helpful to read others' reviews in making my decision. I appreciate that more than anything.

The test will be whether it holds up for more than a year.

I am pretty happy with this microwave oven. I had a 15 year old Sanyo that still works well, but needed a microwave for work, and decided to take the Sanyo there. This new microwave is so much faster! Popcorn turns out fluffier and in half the time of the old machine. It heats a cup of water for my tea in a minute. Am a little disappointed in the electronic display, which I had read in reviews was difficult to read (you have to bend down to see it displayed well). I also think it is odd that the light doesn't turn on when you open the door. It's dark in that little cave! But overall I am glad I bought it and look forward to many happy years together.

My husband and I so far love this microwave. It's very easy to learn how to use and compared to our old microwave this is a godsend. It took a while to get used to exactly how powerful it actually is, but once you get the hang of it it's an awesome product. I'm very happy with it and the price is good too, we've already recommended it to a friend!

Although I've only unpacked this item a few minutes ago and heated a cup of water, I'm going to give this a five stars. Here are a couple of thoughts on microwaves in general and this one in particular.

First, I removed the clear plastic film from the control panel. It is so well fitted, even down to holes for several buttons, that you might not realize that it is only for shipping. That info is buried on pg23 in the instructions. That's not the prime cause of a hard-to-read display, but things are just a bit clearer after you remove it. A simple sticker with instructions to "remove this film before use" seems like it would be a simple fix.

Second item is that I plugged the microwave into a surge protector before use. You don't have to have a lightning strike to kill today's electronics. Just starting up a motor can result in a momentary spike. One surge won't necessarily do in your electronics, but the repeated abuse can finally kill them. This is true for ALL brands of electronics and includes other appliances such as DVD players, computers, TVs. Read up on surge protection and get one with good specifications.

Other reviewers are correct about the difficulty of seeing into the oven. But I don't rely on things starting to boil as an indicator to shut off power. That only works for things that are mostly liquid anyway. And I don't want my cup of coffee brought to a boil. I pretty quickly learn how much heat to add. If it's not quite enough, I'll give it a bit more. Some liquids go from a boil to overflowing pretty quickly. I don't want to stand there with my finger on the button!

The display can be problematic for tall people who are looking down at an angle. Part of the problem is that this oven has a low profile so the display has to be relatively low. You could raise it up with something on the counter and it would be easier to read. For myself, I just punch in the numbers and start the cycle. Then I step back and can see if it has the right amount of time. In the rare event I made an error, I would just start over.

The door mechanism seems to work smoothly at least initially. Time will tell if any problems develop.

So, the real unknown is reliability. I'm hopeful that the surge protection will be an important part of the long life equation.
